Shuddhaanandaa Brahmachari is a globally acclaimed motivational and inspirational teacher, specializing in Mindfulness Meditation and Stress Reduction. He is also an author, social advocate, peacemaker and innovative Micro-Credit leader from West Bengal, India. His vision of mindfulness as the greatest self-help tool permeates all aspects of his service to humankind.

The Call of His Inner Spirit

Born on May 10, 1949, he received a Masters in Commerce in 1972 and served as a lecturer in a college in Hyderabad. In 1976, he heard the call of his inner Spirit, renounced worldly life and went into a seclusion to practice deep meditation.

Empowering the Poor to be Self-sustaining:

In 1985 he founded Lokenath Divine Life Mission (LDLM), to serve the poor. Today LDLM’s groundbreaking sustainable development programs serve hundreds of thousands in remote villages of West Bengal and in the slums of Kolkata (formerly Calcutta), India. It conducts street and village schools. Over 200,000 people who would not otherwise receive medical care are treated at LDLM’s mobile health van clinics. Its landmark Micro-Credit self-help groups for rural women are helping them to become self-sufficient and leaders in their communities. Operating on the same Micro-Credit model, Farmers’ self-help groups teach organic farming.

Course in Mindfulness (CIM): Meditation, Stress Reduction, and Mind Power

In 2005, Shuddhanandaa founded the Stress Management Academy, and began conducting global seminars on breathing, relaxation, meditation and positive thinking for schools, corporations, hospitals, prisons and other venues. He expanded his Simple Art of Managing Stress Program into Course in Mindfulness (CIM) in 2012.

CIM explores the three pillars of mindfulness: Meditation, Stress Reduction and Mind Power. Its programs include: Mindfulness for Corporate Excellence (MCE), Mindfulness for Academic Excellence (MAE), Mindfulness for Positive Parenting (MPP) and a general course, Mindfulness for a Stress-free, Happy Life.

He has inspired hundreds of thousands of people globally through his workshops, which are popular with youth, the corporate sector and those who are interested in deepening their spiritual life, whatever their tradition and belief.

Shuddhaanandaa began touring and speaking globally since 1990. Wherever he goes, his vibrant intelligence, fully engaged heart and remarkable presence touch his audience. Whether encouraging us to practice mindfulness and to befriend our own mind, sharing his model of sustainable development, or his vision of interfaith cooperation, he is always inspiring. During his recent Annual Global Tours he presented his CIM Program at venues in India, UK, Bahrain, Australia, Mexico, Costa Rica and the USA. Recent venues include: Coal Company, Kolkata, India, WTC, Mumbai, India, Grand Valley State University, US, University of Notre Dame, US, University of Wisconsin, US, and Tec de Monterrey, Mexico, where he was the honored speaker at their 70th Anniversary Celebration. He presented at National University of Costa Rica, and appeared on several TV and radio programs in Costa Rica talking about Stress Reduction. He was a keynote speaker at the International Conference on Spiritual Paradigm for Surmounting Global Management Crisis in Varanasi, India in 2012, 2013.

He was awarded the Man of Peace Award by the World Organization of Peace in Mexico in 2012. In July 2015, he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the S.T.A.R foundation for his invaluable and outstanding contribution to society. He was presented the Award by The Rt Hon, Lord Hunt of Wirral MBE at the House of Lords.

He has authored several books, including Your Mind, Your Best Friend:  30 Days to Build Your Most Important Friendship and Cleaning the Mirror of Mind: Clutter Free Home, Clutter Free Mind. He is a regular contributor to several magazines, and is a popular figure on the social media, where he blogs daily and personally answers reader’s comments and questions in his engaging, practical and humorous style.
